Review on an integrated archives electronic document and records management systems

Abstract

This paper covers an outline of major writings and other sources on electronic documents and Records Management Systems (EDRMs) in different University setups. The main focus is to get an outline of how the records have been integrated electronically so an evaluation of the current systems used at the Chinhoyi University of Technology was included. The current record systems work independently, there is no integration at all so their individual weakness are highlighted in this paper. Literature from other authors who wrote about integration of electronic records and the advancements in that technology are also part of the discussion. Some of the integrated records management systems analysed are namely Zoho Docs, Logical Doc, Microsoft SharePoint and M-Files DMS, they are currently the most popular and widely used e-records management systems. The methodology of the proposed system is discussed at length stating the benefits of such a system for CUT over the current independent ones being used.
