Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to present a framework for promoting good
governance of stakeholders in urban municipalities in Zimbabwe.
Numerous studies have been done to investigate the quality of service
delivery in urban municipalities. Studies on promoting good governance in
Zimbabwe urban municipalities are rare. Therefore this study was an
attempt to fill this gap in literature. To that end the quantitative approach
was adopted. The survey research design was also used. The purposive
sampling method was used to select a sample of 480 research participants.
The questionnaire approach was used to collect data from the research
participants. Data was analysed using frequency tables and pie charts. The
results showed that local authorities in Zimbabwe are facing a mammoth
task in promoting good governance in their constituencies. This study
recommends that appropriate models of governance be utilized in order to
satisfy the needs of Harare residence.
